Also known as The Valley of the Moon, Wadi Rum of Jordan is characterized by its breathtaking landscapes carved out of sandstone and granite rock. Decon Hotel capitalizes on this by offering constant views out towards the scenery, but also acts as its own manmade interpretation of the rock formations.
Mimicking the rocks’ changing appearance as one is at different distances, the hotel is designed to offer variating impressions as one is far away, near or inside the building. As you approach from a distance, the building has a simple jewel-like purity, but as you get closer, the textures and intricacies start to reveal itself. The exterior walls are actually permeable and the interiors display organic detailing. Finally, the very centre culminates in a magnificant hidden oasis.
